SMART Destinations

SMART Destinations of the World is a membership organization of small hotels dedicated to offering the finest vacation experience while minimizing our impact on the environment and supporting local communities.  

We realized after working with so many great hotels and lodges committed to sustainable tourism that we needed to create a brand to group these hotels together in order to market and sell the collective network.   The Sustainable Managed Association of Responsible Travel (SMART) network is designed to not only market and sell these sustainable businesses but also provide resources to help hotel owners improve their sustainable business practices.  

The network was founded by 10 small lodges in Costa Rica and after a successful first year Solimar will be expanding the network throughout the Americas with the help of the Certification Network of the Americas.   Our aim is to use the SMART brand to provide a marketing and sales outlet for sustainable hotels while providing incentives to hotels to participate in sustainable tourism certification.
