Solimar understands the importance of aligning our economic business goals with the goals and values of a broader society.   In addition to supporting our partners that are incorporating sustainability into their business model, educating travelers on the importance of sustainable tourism, and connecting responsible travelers with responsible tourism providers, our business makes every effort to give back and support our environment.

Responsible Purchasing - wherever possible Solimar makes responsible purcahing decisions from vendors that share Solimar's values.   Our belief is that by supporting other like minded businesses we can create a new economy that provides additional benefits to the World around us.

BetterWorld Telecom - Change the world. One call at a time .

BetterWorld Telecom is the only nationwide voice and data provider in the U.S. solely focused on serving businesses, enterprises, and organizations that have social and sustainable missions.    BetterWorld donates 3% of all revenue to non-profit organizations.

Frogserve Hosting - Web Services for People who Care

Motivated by quality and by a passion for growing an ecologically-sensitive business culture, Frogserve offers a full spectrum of hosting services to Solimar and Solimar's clients while adhering to earth-friendly business practices.   Frogserve donates 5% of all proceeds to rainforest preservation.

Volunteering - Sometimes it feels that Solimar does more volunteering then business J This is due to the fact that our mission is to support sustainable tourism businesses and non-profit organizations.   Solimar is notorious for not being able to say no and wanting to help organizations that do not have the financial resources to pay for our services.  

In addition to volunteering our own time, we also developed a volunteer program with college students and recent alumni to provide international volunteer opportunities.   Our team donates time and resources to help organize and match volunteers with international projects.   

Fundraising - Solimar also assists our partners develop and implement fundraising strategies to support their sustainable tourism efforts.   Based in Washington DC and understanding the trends in development assistance and travel philanthropy, Solimar provides our partners with advise and support to help raise funds for projects and organizations.

The International Ecotourism Society (TIES)

TIES is the largest and oldest ecotourism organization in the world dedicated to generating and disseminating information about ecotourism.

 

Sustinable Tourism Certification Network of the Americas

The mission of this Network is to promote sustainable tourism in the region through the strengthening of tourism initiatives based on mutual respect and recognition, joint efforts, harmonization (balancing) of systems and the sharing of information and experience.

DC Sustainable Business Network (DCSBN)

DCSBN is a community of businesses, neighborhoods, non-profits, and people dedicated to realizing a common goal: Helping Washington DC become a more sustainable place to live and work now and in the future - fully realizing its potential as a world-class capital city.   Chris Seek is also on the board of directors.
